School's out!

180 days. That is how long a typical school year lasts. I cannot believe 180 days has passed so quickly. I now have a 4th-grader! I have been telling Savannah stories about my elementary school days. She seems to enjoy them. She also probably thinks I'm a nut! It's just that it is so amazing to me that (1) I have her and (2) she is experiencing things that I recall from my own life like it was yesterday. I treasure the memories I have of those days. Times were slower then and there wasn't as much "stuff" to worry about. I mean, it was 1980! Bill and I are trying not to let her grow up too quickly. But she is out there in the world and we don't ever want her to think she is by herself. She prays every night that God will help her be a good girl. How utterly innocent.

Now that school is out, we can all take a deep breath and relax and refocus and spend our 75-day summer break together doing things that help us reconnect as a family. I am looking forward to it!
