If you can read this--thank a teacher!

4 more days...I only have 4 more days of school to go before my summer break begins. Actually, it will be more than a summer break. After prayerful consideration, Bill and I decided that it would be best for me to be home with our son in the fall. So, I will not be going back to teaching at the preschool. I am really looking forward to it. But, it will be a little weird, too. I have been teaching--in some form or capacity--for 17 years. Isn't that amazing? I started my profession as a substitute teacher for the schools in Henderson County. Then, I moved to the big city and began teaching for MCS. I did that until we had our daughter and then I stayed home with her for 10 months. That is when I started teaching at the preschool at our church. Been there since except for a short stint back with MCS in '03. I love teaching. I decided when I was in the third grade that I was going to be a teacher. It is never boring. It is, frequently, hilarious. I have been blessed to teach with so many wonderful men and women. I have learned so much from them all. So, it is with great anticipation and a bit of hesitation that I put my chalk down. I will not even try to fight off the incredible urges I get in August to buy new school supplies. I will continue to tear out cute ideas from every magazine I look at. I will, occasionally, have to go into The Knowledge Tree and The Learning House and walk the aisles. I will always be a teacher.
